|Katee Sackhoff (Capt. Kara "Starbuck" Thrace Anders)|
Actress Name: Katee Sackhoff
Character Name: Capt. Kara "Starbuck" Thrace Anders
Episode Appearances: Main Cast on Mini-Series, Season 1, 2 and 3.
Character Bio: Kara was engaged with Zak Adama who died in a flight accident--and she's been feeling guilty ever since. She's one of the best pilots in the fleet and she knows it. During Lee Adama's tenure as head of the Pegasus, he appoints her acting CAG. Her friendship with him is strong and close to becoming more but Kara can't make up her mind and they have a big fight about it.
During her visit to Cylon-occupied Caprica in search for the arrow of Apollo, she meets with some of the resistance members there and falls in love with one of its leaders, Samuel Anders. She has to leave him to reunite with the fleet but promises to return for him, which she does eventually. She has a short affair with Lee (who is already with Dualla at this time). They both agree to break up with the person they're seeing now, but the nexrt morning Kara marries Anders while Lee is still sleeping. Lee, in his turn, marries Dualla.
Kara gets captured by the Cylons, and is treated by the Cylon named Leoben Conoy. He claims that they have a daughter together, created from the ovaries taken from her during a separate captivity on Cylon-occupied Caprica. When reunited with the fleet, the story turns out to be a lie and the child belongs to someone else.
She breaks up with Anders and rebels against the pilots that stayed in space during the time they fought the Cylons on New Caprica. She also sits on a tribunal that convicts traitors from the time spent on New Caprica. Admiral Adama stops all this and Kara picks up her old life again. She and Anders get back together, but she and Lee also continue the affair they had on New Caprica (even though both are married now). Lee wants to leave his wife to continue with Kara, but Kara is not as committed and doesn't want to leave Anders. Lee finally ends the affair because of it.
Starbuck is injured during the defense of the Temple of Five, and after a standoff with Anders, Apollo orders Dualla to rescue her. Once she's safely on Galactica, Helo recognizes that the strange circular mandala in the Temple resembles one Starbuck painted long ago. Following that revelation, Kara has constant nightmares about Leoben, his prophecy, and the mandala. Later, during refueling operations, Starbuck sees a Cylon fighter that she chases into a storm. The storm clouds resemble the mandala, and when she dives into it she almost loses control before pulling her viper out. She starts to question her own sanity, as does everyone else. Apollo offers to fly as wingman on her next flight, during which she once again sees a Cylon ship. She's knocked out by debris and experiences a revelation about her mother, with Leoben in attendance. Her destiny is upon her. When she wakes up, she continues her journey into the storm, where her viper explodes. Her last words are, "Just let me go."
Starbuck returns in a rather spectacular fashion; when Apollo sees a bogey near the Ionian nebula, he plays cats and mouse with it for a few minutes before he can see its pilot. It is Kara Thrace, apparently resurrected, telling him that she has been to Earth and she will take the fleet there.

Trivia: She has a dog named "Meatball"
She was NOT born on the exact same date as Battlestar Galactica's co-star Grace Park (Lt. Sharon "Athena" Agathon). Grace Park was born on March 14, 1974. The information that both were born on the same date was wrongfully spread on the internet for some time. Confusion originated at IMDb who had listed a wrong birthdate for Grace Park. Even after correction on IMDb, many sites kept listing her wrong birthdate. On a video interview published on SciFi Channel's official site in the fall of 2006, Grace Park mentions the mix-up and shows screenshots of the now correct IMDb page and several other sites that are still incorrect.
What she's doing now: Currently starring on Scifi Channel's Battlestar Galactica. Upcoming movies are White Noise 2 and The Last Sentinel.
